Why I'm Running

It is time for us to
change directions
I’m running for the State Board of Education because Texas students and teachers deserve schools built on hope, trust, and opportunity rather than politics, fear, and outdated ideas. For too long, our state’s education policies have relied on compliance instead of learning, memorization instead of thinking, and mandates instead of meaningful support for teachers. This approach isn’t working, and continuing down this path will cause real harm to our students and our future.
I am running to bring expertise, research, and a new vision to the State Board of Education — a vision that sees students as capable thinkers and creators, and teachers as trusted professionals whose strengths should be supported, not restricted. I believe Texas can build schools where students discover what they love, where teachers innovate, and where learning is meaningful, challenging, and joyful. I’m running because our kids deserve nothing less.
Putting Learning First
Every policy decision should prioritize how students learn, grow, and thrive—not political agendas, compliance systems, or test scores.
What our schools
can look like
I believe our schools can be places where students are excited to learn, not pressured to perform. Where curiosity matters as much as correctness. Where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and discover what they are capable of becoming.
Our schools can be communities of belonging, where every student feels seen, respected, and supported, and where differences are understood as strengths rather than problems to be fixed.
Our schools can be places where teachers are trusted as professionals, free to innovate, collaborate, and grow, rather than constrained by rigid mandates and fear of punishment.
Our schools can be places where learning is meaningful and connected to the real world, where students develop the ability to think critically, solve problems, and create new possibilities.
Our schools can be guided by evidence, expertise, and shared purpose not politics or ideology.
This is the future I am running to help build. One rooted in hope, trust, and the belief that Texas students and educators can achieve extraordinary things when given the opportunity.
